Prof Branemark
A dental implant is an artificial tooth root replacement alternative in prosthetic dentistry. There are several types, the most widely accepted and successful being the osseointegrated implant, based on the discovery by Professor Per-Ingvar Brånemark that titanium could be successfully incorporated into the jaw bone when osteoblasts grow on and into the rough surface of the implanted titanium screw. It forms a structural and functional connection between the living bone and the implant. A variation in the implant procedure is the implant-supported bridge or implant-supported denture.
A typical implant consists of a titanium screw with a roughened surface. This surface is treated either by plasma spraying, etching or sandblasting to increase the integration potential of the implant. At edentulous (without teeth) jaw sites, a pilot hole is bored into the recipient’s bone, taking care to avoid vital structures. In addition, the progressive use of larger drills than the previously used drill to create space for the implant body to be integrated into the bone is used. It helps osseointegrate the implant body. This pilot hole is then expanded by using progressively wider drills. The implant screw can be self-tapping and is screwed into place at a precise torque so as not to overload the surrounding bone. Once in the bone, a cover screw is placed, and the operation site can heal for a few months for integration to occur.
After some months, the implant is uncovered, and a healing abutment and temporary crown are placed onto the implant. It encourages the gum to grow in the right scalloped shape to approximate a natural tooth’s gums and allows assessment of the final aesthetics of the restored tooth. Once this has occurred, a permanent crown will be constructed and placed on the implant.
Implants have gained immense importance in recent years with advancements in implant therapy and their eventual benefits. However, implant therapy has a significant price disparity compared to locations globally offering varied price ranges. Implant therapy is the most advanced solution to edentulism, offering a more permanent solution than prosthetic devices that are not fixed. Therefore, Implant therapy is a desirable surgical procedure for a permanent solution. India is the leading hub for implant therapy, offering implants at highly competitive rates compared to its global counterparts. India offers implant therapy at such competitive rates simply because of the sheer volume of Implants needed, a large volume of skilled and highly trained professionals and the increasing desire to get an implant. It makes India a global dental hub for receiving implants. In addition, India is at par, if not better, regarding technological advancements and advanced procedural skills acquired by enthusiastic dental professionals who wish to deliver quality work at pocket-friendly rates.
The United States, United Kingdom, UAE and other countries offer Implant therapy which uses advanced technologies and precision devices too, but when compared to India, the price to receive implants is vastly different. Most people in Western countries choose the option of dental tourism over getting Implants in their homeland simply because of the vast difference. India is exceptionally welcoming to all, and multiple dental chains have been set up to cater to such audiences. These chains offer a variety of treatment modalities, from orthodontic work, aligner treatment, implant therapy, root canal treatment, fillings and aesthetic work to much more, offering all kinds of treatment under one roof. They also offer exciting packages that make your stay in India more comfortable and enjoyable, like a city tour, restaurant suggestions, places to visit and things to buy, making your stay extremely pleasurable, additionally having treatments structured according to your schedule. Signature Smiles is a leading dental chain across Mumbai that offers such services for Implant therapy. Your location on the globe might not matter, but your location to receive Implants matters and thus, choose Signature Smiles for all your Implant needs and experience the revolution.
